Description
A green-stained horn case with a flowing shape, richly adorned with bronze fittings featuring floral and foliage motifs. Chiselled brass dial centred on a lyre, flanked by vases topped with canopies; enamelled Roman numerals for the hours, chiselled markings for the minutes; movement (probably older, fitted later?) signed ‘Helme London’.
Louis XV period
81 x 38.5 x 16.5 cm (cracked horn, minor chips, minor chips to the periphery of the dial, minor cracks and chips to some of the enamels, cracked glass)
Key and balance wheel added later; working order not verified
NB: Probably a combination of an English mechanism and a French clock case
