Description
An exceptional console table with a flared and curved shape, crafted from carved and gilded wood, adorned with a rich decoration of rocaille motifs, acanthus leaves, birds and flowers. The front panel features a large, asymmetrical, openwork central cartouche. It is flanked by acanthus foliage and floral motifs. The sides are decorated in a similar style. The legs, with their double inverted curves, are embellished with clasps, acanthus leaves and volutes, and finished with scrollwork; they are joined by a crossbar featuring a large openwork cartouche, enhanced by a bird pecking at it. The piece rests on small curved feet. The top is a slab of light antique green marble.
