A dressing table in burl mahogany veneer, with chiselled and gilded bronze. It features a mercury mirror set within a curved, swivelling frame, supported by two columns resting on crook-shaped feet. The reverse is lined with silk edged with braid. The lower section, topped by a white marble basin, opens via a belt-style drawer serving as a writing desk and fitted with compartments. The column-like uprights are joined by an X-shaped brace and rest on circular feet. Finely chiselled and mercury-gilded bronze fittings: capitals, bases and star. Paris. Late Empire period. Circa.
