Description
A desk known as the ‘Mazarin’, made of veneer and violet wood. It features two side sections, each with three drawers stacked one above the other, and three central drawers, two of which are set back. The top features extensive decoration of fern-shaped stars, scrollwork and butterfly wings within a banded border. The arbalète-style front and sides are inlaid with interlaced butterfly wings within moulded frames. The upright panels rest on eight sheathed legs joined by X-shaped braces, supported by blackened wooden feet. France.
