LONDON (c. 1774–1785), England Long silver serving spoon or stew spoon with the bowl re-pierced on one side. A band of wavy lines and small dots on the front of the handle and spoon head. The back of the spoon head is plain. English hallmarks, including a passant lion and a crowned leopard’s head, for LONDON circa 1776–1796. Date letter: “L” Silversmith’s mark: “GS” for George SMITH (III)?, who practised in London between 1774 and 1785. Length: 29.5 cm Weight: 114 grams
