LE MANS, Louis XIV–Regency period A rare dressing table candlestick resting on a square base with bevelled sides. Octagonal shaft and bowl, as are the knots. Fine hallmarks including: Hallmarks for LE MANS, Common guild mark for LE MANS (crowned ‘G’); Hallmarks (appearing four times) of the master goldsmith (initials ‘IP’ and a candlestick, all crowned). For identification, please refer to Virginie DAVOUDET’s publication on ‘The Goldsmiths of Le Mans in the 18th Century’ Height: 18.5 cm. Weight: 266.6 grams.
