Description
CHRISTOFLE – ‘DELAFOSSE’ model Set of 11 Louis XVI-style silver-plated dessert knives with stainless steel blades. Violin-shaped handles with a serrated decoration of foliage, rosettes and leafy garlands. Hallmarks of the silversmith’s workshop: (“CC” and scales), used between 1844 and 1935. Signatures in full of the CHRISTOFLE firm. Blades signed: “CHRISTOFLE”. L: 19.2 cm. Model created in 1907, inspired by the Louis XVI period and Antiquity. These decorative motifs are derived from Jean-Charles Delafosse (1734–1789), a French ornamentalist and architect who theorised the Louis XVI style and heralded the dawn of Classicism. This design was notably chosen by the Hôtel Parisien Le Meurice to adorn its tables.
