ODIOT and HENIN Vermeil (gold-plated silver) ice cream set, known as the ‘Napoleon’ model, for 18 guests. It comprises 18 scoops/spoons and 2 serving pieces (making a total of 20 pieces). Handles and scoops decorated with foliage, fruit, fleurons and palmettes on an amati background. A slightly raised design featuring a blank coat of arms and a caduceus with Hermes’ hat on the back of the scoops, and cornucopias laden with fruit on the front. A matching chiselled design on the handles and spoon heads. Minerva hallmarks, 1st standard. Hallmarks of the silversmith’s workshop: HENIN & Cie, registered in 1896. Length/weight of individual scoops and spoons: 14.3 cm / 494.8 grams. Length/weight of serving ladle: 25.5 and 29.1 cm / 251.2 grams. Total weight of the set: 746 grams. Model presented in its original box, marketed by Beaumont in Lyon, bearing the ‘GP’ monogram (shows signs of wear). Case dimensions: H: 5 cm. L: 43 cm. D: 33 cm. Fine scratches and signs of wear on the vermeil.
