Empire-style silver hors d’oeuvres/petit fours set comprising 4 pieces, including:
- 1 petit four dish with a serving spoon featuring an engraved design of a winged flaming torch. L: 16.7 and 14.5 cm;
- 1 petit four serving spoon with an openwork design forming foliage. L: 14.5 cm;
- 1 spoon with a multi-lobed, openwork bowl. L: 14.8 cm.
Decorated with water leaves, fleurons, palmettes, cascading flowers and a flaming torch surrounded by swan’s wings.
Design by Baron GERARD, Painter to the Empire (1770–1837).
Handles adorned with a laurel wreath.
The backs of the spoons bear a stylised, interlaced monogram: ‘MH’.
Minerva hallmarks, 1st standard.
Goldsmiths’ hallmarks: LAPPARRA & GABRIEL (“LG” and a rat), active from 1902 to 1923.
