PUIFORCAT A set of six oval-shaped salt cellars and their spoons in vermeil (gold on silver) in the Louis XV style, with white crystal interiors. Each mount features rich openwork decoration of interlacing patterns, scrolls, flowers and foliage in the Rocaille style. The bases of the legs are adorned with tridents and dolphins, some set against an amati background. They rest on four small, scroll-shaped legs. The spoons are decorated with shells, acanthus leaves and knots, whilst the spoon bowls are shaped like shells. The necks of the inner bowls are enhanced with gilded fillets (some wear). First-title Minerva hallmarks for the spoons. Wild boar’s head hallmark or the letter ‘Q’ for some of the inner bowls. Master silversmith’s hallmark: (“EP” and a penknife) for Émile PUIFORCAT, who qualified in 1857 (except for two inner parts). Dimensions of salt cellars: Height: 3.5 cm / Length: 4.5 cm / Width: 4 cm Length of spoons: 7.3 cm Total weight (excluding inserts): 160 grams Total gross weight: 388 grams.
