Empire-style silver hors d’oeuvres/petit fours set comprising 4 pieces, with vermeil-plated spoons, forks and inner parts:
- 1 petit four set; fork and scoop with incised foliage decoration. L: 13.1 cm;
- 1 petit four scoop with openwork decoration of foliage and a winged torch. L: 13.7 cm;
- 1 sugar tongs with a leaf-shaped tip and a scroll-decorated clasp.
Decorated with water leaves, fleurons, palmettes, cascading flowers and a flaming torch surrounded by swan’s wings.
Design by Baron GERARD, Painter to the Empire (1770–1837).
Clips adorned with a laurel wreath.
The backs of the spoons bear a stylised interlaced monogram: ‘MH’.
Minerva hallmarks, 1st standard.
Goldsmiths’ hallmarks: LAPPARRA & GABRIEL (“LG” and a rat), active from 1902 to 1923.
