Autun, 18th century A rare portable silver custodium or pyx. The lid is surmounted by a cross and foliage. Circular base, on the underside of which is inscribed: “Jarriot Pastor, 1769, Veilly sous Antigny” 18th-century hallmark (partly illegible), including a shield-shaped mark and a rampant lion (?), representing the coat of arms of the town of AUTIN. Partially illegible hallmark (visible in the book *Les Orfèvres de Bourgogne* by Elisabeth Reveillon; unidentified). Master silversmith’s hallmark: ("MVi" with a shield bearing a rampant lion, probably depicting the coat of arms of the town of Autun), probably belonging to Claude Marie MILSAND (widow of Dominique JUDE), who worked in the town of Autun from 1757 to 1772.
