PARIS, 18th century (probably) Silver goblet/curon on a pedestal, with a slightly flared rim decorated with fillets. The body is engraved with a coat of arms. The oblong shield is flanked by two greyhounds. It features two interlaced chevrons with a greyhound at their centre. Base surrounded by godrons. Engraved inscription beneath the base: ‘A.C. 42.’ and ‘II’. Traces of hallmarks (virtually illegible), including: - Hallmark of office and discharge, presumed to be for PARIS 1781–1789 (trace of the letter A and a bird’s beak); - Master goldsmith’s hallmark: (“MM”? surmounted by two grains with a crowned fleur-de-lis. H.: 7.2 cm Neck diameter: 7 cm. Base diameter: 5 cm. Weight: 92.4 grams. Small crack on the neck.
