LAPPARRA & GABRIEL Empire-style silver sugar tongs, with a vermeil interior. Decorated with water leaves and palmettes. Based on a design by Baron GERARD, painter to the Empire (1770–1837). Ends finished with ‘lion’s claw’ motifs. Back of the handles bearing a stylised interlaced monogram: ‘MH’. Minerva hallmark, 1st standard. Goldsmiths’ hallmarks: LAPPARRA & GABRIEL (“LG” and a rat), active from 1902 to 1923. L: 13.2 cm. Weight: 47.8 grams.
