A vermeil (gold-plated silver) award palm.
The palm is finely chased with oak leaves, acorns and laurel leaves.
The base of the palm is adorned with a ribbon bow and a circular medallion bearing the inscription: “A.M.C. de Villers, President – Music Competition, 5 & 6 August 1894 – Souvenir”.
Hog’s head hallmark and probably the master goldsmith’s hallmark.
Max. height: 19.8 cm.
Max. width: 6.5 cm.
Weight: 20 grams.
In its original green canvas case, lined with orange velvet (shows signs of wear, with small tears and slits).
The case is marked: “ROBINEAU FILS PARIS” for ROBINEAU & Fils, active circa 1851–1905.
