Circular silver dish/display piece in the Renaissance style.
The rim is decorated with an appliqué of a mascaron (in the style of a tragic mask) and a facing lion’s head. These elements alternate with two plain escutcheons surrounded by scrollwork topped with fringes in a ‘cut leather’ style.
The rim is embellished with double ‘doucine’-style fillets.
First-grade Minerva hallmark (rim and back).
Master goldsmith’s hallmark: Gustave LEROY: (“LC&Cie” and a royal crown), granted in 1896 with a cancellation in 1897. Seller’s full name signed on the reverse: “N.TROUILLE in Amiens”.
