SEZANNE 1752–78 (Marne/Champagne) A rare silver stew spoon from Champagne, of the plain-bottomed style. Small ‘N.P’ monogram on the handle. Hallmark of the TROYES Mint (crowned ‘S’) and the master silversmith’s mark: Nicolas DEVILLERME, who was granted a licence to practise in SEZANNE in 1748; he died in 1778. Length: 33.1 cm. Dimensions of the bowl: 10.6 x 6.5 cm Weight: 147.6 grams. This stew spoon will be featured in the forthcoming book on the Champagne-Ardenne region by Mr MULETTE, whom we thank for identifying the hallmarks.
