INCUNABULUM. CARACCIOLO (Roberto, of the Order of Friars Minor) c. 1425–1495: *Epistola venerabilis clarissimisque in sancta theologia…*. Nuremberg, Fr. Crusner, 1479; In folio, brown calfskin, covers embossed with interlaced bands and fleurons, brass clasps. Contemporary binding. A fine copy, entirely rubricated in red, of this very important incunabulum from the Nuremberg presses. (Spine repaired, minute wormholes on the last few folios and a small worm-eaten area affecting about ten folios). Roberto Caracciolo, born in Lecce in Apulia around 1425, a Franciscan friar, was one of the greatest preachers of his time. He died in 1495.
