ICHTHYOLOGY. RONDELET (Guillaume): *The Complete History of Fishes*, originally written in Latin by Guillaume Rondelet, now translated into French [by Laurent JOUBERT]. Lyon, Macé Bonhomme, 1558; 2 parts bound in one folio volume: Vol. I (12)-418-(13) pp. – Vol. II (4)-181-(9) pp., brown calfskin, decorated raised-rib spine, title label in red morocco. 17th-century binding. Rondelet, whose portrait, engraved by Pierre Vase, appears at the beginning of each volume, provides here the first French translation of this famous work, originally published in Latin in 1554–1555. A very complete copy featuring all 470 woodcut illustrations engraved by Pierre Vase and Georges Reverdy. Brunet IV-1373. Baudrier X-259. (A very slight marginal verse inscription on the half-titles of vol. II; a minor defect in the binding).
