Folio, 129 unnumbered folios, full fawn calfskin, spine with 7 raised bands decorated with a repeated embossed design, covers with embossed decoration featuring a double scroll pattern separated by fleurons in the corners, and a lozenge-patterned border framing the coat of arms of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria—to whom the work is dedicated—on both the front and back covers, the coat of arms of an abbot to whom Archduke Ferdinand presented the volume; four coats of arms frame this lozenge. The volume is organised as follows: title and text printed In Gothic type, allegorical frontispieces framing the portrait of Archduke Ferdinand, 3 folios of dedication, the 9 portraits of the kings or princes of the period who patronised the work, and 46 plates depicting military leaders. The volume is very well preserved in a beautiful Austrian binding of the period. A fine, complete copy with all the plates intact.
