ATLAS. JANSSON (Jan, Harnhem 1588 – Amsterdam 1664): New Atlas of the Kingdom of England. Amsterdam, published by Jan Blaeu, undated (1650–1660); Large folio, contemporary gilt vellum. Dutch binding. This volume, the fourth in Jansson’s General Atlas, comprises a title page and 56 engraved double-page plates, all enhanced with colour: one plate of the British Isles and 55 plates of the counties of England, Scotland and Ireland. All are in fine condition in terms of both engraving and colouring. The 8 pages of medallions are all present. The coloured title page has been reattached. Numerous woodcuts in the text. (The paper of the 8 pages is very browned).
