VERNET (Carle) 1758–1836, French artist born in Bordeaux and died in Paris: A collection of 52 drawings in Indian ink. These drawings were subsequently used for the famous edition of *Les Cris de Paris*.
These drawings, of roughly equal size, are collected in a folio volume, in mottled light-coloured calfskin, with a decorated ribbed spine, a title label in black morocco, a double row of three gilt bands on the covers, and red edges. Mid-19th-century binding. The collection also includes 5 miscellaneous drawings, 8 graphite drawings depicting fashionable costumes by Carle Vernet, a caricature in oil pastel signed ‘CHARLET’, and a portrait of Louis XVIII drawn in ink and pen.
