Description
NECKLACE Polish link, yellow gold A yellow gold choker featuring the so-called ‘Polish’ link: a supple woven band with an amati background, set centre by a garland of small flowers and foliage, the edges highlighted by a fine cord of twisted gold beads. Snap clasp. French craftsmanship, 18-carat yellow gold (750 0/00); eagle’s head hallmark. Illegible maker’s mark, stamped on the clasp. The delicacy of the weaving and the floral decoration bring this piece close to the creations of Georges Lenfant’s Parisian workshop, famous for its woven gold mesh and a supplier to the greatest houses — Cartier, Hermès, Van Cleef & Arpels, Boucheron, Mellerio. However, the master’s mark, which is illegible, could not be identified with certainty. Circa 1960–1970. Inner neck circumference: 14.5 cm; Width: 12 cm Mesh thickness: 1.1 cm Gross weight: 88.1 g. (the mesh is very slightly dented in two places) Hallmarks: Eagle’s head Rhinoceros’ head MO: probably OP and another unidentified mark
