SCALLOP SHELL BOWL
Bruckmann & Söhne, Heilbronn
A large silver bowl in the shape of a scallop shell, with a radiating, ribbed basin; the wing is openwork, decorated with foliage scrolls and floral trelliswork; the rim features twisted godrons. The shell is supported by a mermaid whose tail crosses beneath the handle; the handle is a high rocaille volute surmounted by a bust of a cherub. It rests on dolphin-shaped feet. Rocaille style.
800‰ silver. German workmanship: crescent and crown hallmark (Halbmond und Krone). Master’s mark of Bruckmann & Söhne, Heilbronn.
