SUGAR BOWL Silver, Russian workmanship — Moscow A domed silver sugar bowl resting on three ball-shaped feet, with a movable arched handle. The body is engraved with friezes and geometric motifs inspired by Russian folk art — zigzags, radiating rosettes and coats of arms — whilst the rim is accented by a row of beads. Silver 84 zolotniki (875 ‰). Russian work, Moscow, dated 1894; Moscow city hallmark (St George slaying the dragon) and assayer’s mark ‘А•А’ of Anatoli Apollonovich Artsybachev (Moscow assayer from 1888 to 1898). Partial maker’s mark ‘ИШ’ attributed to Ivan Agafonovich Shlyapnikov (Moscow, active c. 1897). Moscow, 1894. Diameter: 12.3 cm — Weight: 184 g. Minor dents.
