Description
A baluster-shaped snuff bottle, made of metal enamelled using the cloisonné technique, on a dark green background. The body is decorated with a branch of flowering plum (white and pink flowers, with a few red accents), rendered in the style of the traditional Chinese ‘prunus’ motif. The neck is adorned with a frieze of stylised yellow petals on a blue background.
The snuff bottle comes with its original spoon-shaped stopper, in matching cloisonné (green ground, domed top with beaded finish), fitted with a stem for measuring out the snuff.
A style characteristic of Chinese cloisonné snuff boxes, probably produced in the 20th century.
