Description
Cloisonné enamel owl figurine (front and back view)
A small zoomorphic figurine made of enamelled metal using the cloisonné technique, depicting a stylised owl with a compact body and golden clawed feet.
• Front: large round eyes rimmed in gold, with turquoise and blue irises and black pupils; golden beak; top of the head with scaly blue plumage; blue and green wings.
• Rear/back: plumage rendered in colour blocks — green on the upper back, reddish-brown on the body with a scale-like feather pattern highlighted in gold; small, pointed golden ears.
The body rests on small, clawed golden legs. The piece was probably intended for decorative use (as a paperweight or ornament) or to form part of an animal series.
Chinese decorative style, probably produced in the 20th century.
