Description
Cloisonné enamel baluster vase decorated with peonies
A baluster-shaped vase with a long, flared neck, made of enamelled metal using the cloisonné technique, on a sky-blue background with a fine guilloché pattern. The neck is accented by a frieze of blue, white and red scale-like motifs, beneath a gilded border.
The body is adorned with a large peony (or magnolia) flower in shades of white and pink, accompanied by green foliage and small yellow flowers, in a naturalistic style characteristic of Chinese cloisonné. The base is encircled by a gilded rim.
Chinese decorative style, probably produced in the 20th century.
