Description
An exceptional chandelier in chiselled and gilded bronze.
Attributed to André-Charles Boulle, circa 1720.
The suspension ring is adorned with pearls, extending into a baluster shaft decorated with fluting, openwork acanthus leaves and a frieze of water leaves. Eight alternating male and female console figures are set in relief, from which the eight light arms emerge in a pair of facing volutes. The finials and lamp heads are adorned with naturalistic foliage and a row of pearls. It is topped by a fruit-shaped finial.
