Studio Romanelli, 19th century,
Based on the marble statue made by Michelangelo when he was still a child around 1488, traces of which have been lost since the 1490's. A typical work of the Italian Renaissance under the supervision of the master BERTOLDO DI GIOVANNI, who had found a vestige of ancient statuary, a fragment of a faun's head. According to one anecdote, when Lorenzo de' Medici noticed the statue in the garden, he pointed out that old people didn't have such perfect teeth. The child immediately picked up the chisel and knocked out a tooth.
