In the midst of a raging sea, a solitary figure appears on the horizon.
The sky, heavy and mysterious, seems to hold back the full force of the storm, whilst
the waves, ablaze with turquoise, foam and light, continue their
ceaseless movement.
Somewhere in the distance, a fragile vessel ploughs on despite the immensity of the
sea.
This work evokes that moment when a human being finds themselves confronted by forces that
are beyond their control. Yet, even when the horizon vanishes behind the storm, there
is always a direction in which to move forward.
For hope is perhaps not the absence of a storm.
It is the light that we continue to seek amidst it.
Through generous brushstrokes and powerful gestures, the artist does not seek
to depict the sea as it is, but as it is felt: ever-changing,
unpredictable, immense.
And perhaps that is the true hope: to keep moving forward, even when the
sea is rough, with the conviction that beyond the horizon, the light still awaits
us.
