Kitagawa Utamaro (Japan, 1753?-1806), - Print, oban tate-e, from the series Chiwa kagami tsuki no murakumo, Models of amorous discourse: Clouds forming over the moon, plate Minoya Sankatsu, Akaneya Hanshichi, and Imaichi Zen'emon. Signed Utamaro Hitsu, publisher Enshuya Matabei. - (Restorations, partially glued, stains) - 38,2 x 25 cm - - The play depicting the love affair between the courtesan Minoya Sankatsu and the son of the sake merchant Akaneya Hanshichi was inspired by an incident that took place in 1665. Sankatsu is shown receiving advances from Imaichi Zen'emon.
