Mixed technique on panel with two back supports
The icon depicts the celebration of all the saints, precursors of Christ, apostles, prophets, pontiffs, martyrs, venerables, righteous people of all times, holy women and also anonymous people with holy behaviour.
They are represented in three registers under a brilliant cloud that emanates from the Trinity of the New Testament, flanked by the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, and the Virgin and Saint John the Forerunner in intercession.
This feast is celebrated by the Eastern Churches on the first Sunday after Pentecost, and is the last celebration of the Easter season.
Very good overall structural condition, very oxidised original varnish, some surface cracks and delaminations, wear. The original colour of the blue background is visible thanks to a slight lightening of the varnish around the writing. The icon is finely painted with an aesthetic that combines both Eastern and Western characteristics.
