Description
RUSSIA, 20th century.
Orthodox travel triptych in tempera on panel (cracks) covered with silver plates with rich incised decoration.
Includes a clasp at the top and a safety link at the bottom.
The flaps and back are finely chased with stylised flowers and foliage. Bearing the inscription: "Ella Glevra 18/5 918 Kisinan".
The interior panels have a radiant background.
The central panel depicts the Virgin and Child.
The side panels depict Saints (probably Saint Nicholas and Saint George).
Russian hallmarks including the "kokoshnik" mark (woman in profile and title 84) used in Moscow between 1908 and 1926. Re-tested with swan
