(2) ff., XVI (incorrectly numbered as VI), 372 pp.; (2) ff., 408 pp. Cover leather worn, head caps missing, scuffing, two joints partially split over 4 cm, corners worn, paper missing from the lower margin of the half-title page of the first volume without affecting the text, some soiling. First edition, illustrated with a large folded map enhanced in colour and a fold-out table of weights and currencies. Collin de Bar (1768–1828) was Governor of France in Pondicherry.
