A large 8vo volume, full chocolate morocco, ribbed spine decorated with gilt fillets and dotted patterns; gilt fillets, dotted patterns and fleurons on the covers, all edges gilt, original covers preserved, slipcase (binding signed GRUEL). First illustrated edition containing 10 original compositions by Armand Poirson, engraved by Louveau-Rouveyre, Müller and Mercier. Large-format edition limited to 50 copies, all on Japanese paper, with a pre-letter suite (no. 6). A superb copy, luxuriously bound by Gruel. FROM THE LIBRARY OF THE FAMOUS AMERICAN BIBLIOPHILE JOHN PIERPONT MORGAN (1837–1913), bearing his ex-libris on a piece of red morocco leather.
