First edition of one of the seminal works of modern botany, in which Pitton de Tournefort established a method for classifying plants, which remained in use until Linnaeus’s system was introduced.
It is adorned with a frontispiece title engraved on copper by Vermeulen, repeated in each volume, 1 vignette on the title page of Volume I, 2 headbands, 2 initials and 451 plates engraved from drawings by Claude Aubriet, comprising Volumes II and III [complete].
