[GLAIRE (Abbé J.-B.)]. The New Testament, according to the Vulgate, translated into French by Abbé J.-B. Glaire. Paris, Firmin Didot frères, fils & cie, n.d. [1865]. One quarto volume in full chocolate-coloured morocco, spine with highly decorated raised bands, covers in the ‘du Seuil’ style, all edges gilt, wide lace border on the moiré endpapers, half-moroquin slipcase, edged case (binding signed Auguste PETIT). Minor scuffing to the half-leather cover and slipcase; otherwise a very fine copy, free from any foxing. A deluxe edition adorned with a wealth of engravings based on works by the Old Masters and decorative borders on every page inspired by the Renaissance.
