STENDHAL (Henri Beyle, known as). *L'Abbesse de Castro*. Paris, Ferroud, 1930. One in-4 volume, in modern half-basane, covers lined with marbled paper, original illustrated cover preserved (binding signed P. Jansana). Edition illustrated with 23 drawings by Auguste Leroux (8 colour wood-engraved plates; headpieces and tailpieces engraved by Beltrand, Ch. Clément and P. Baudier). Printed in a run of 600 copies; this is one of 450 on Arches vellum, containing two states of the illustrations, including one state of the line art for the full-page plates. A fine copy.
