History of the Siege of Lyon, the events that preceded it and the disasters that followed, together with their secret, general and specific causes; (from 1789 to 1796). Paris, Le Clere & Lyon, Rusand & Daval, 1797. Two volumes bound together as a single in-8 volume, in contemporary root-tanned sheepskin, with a decorated ribbed spine. (1) fol., 255 pp., (1) fol. and (1) fol., 258 pp., (1) fol. Headbands missing. Complete first edition including the folded map. ENRICHED COPY: 1/ the historical folded map of the city of Lyon and its districts ‘taking into account its extensions, improvements and planned developments’ (Paris, Moithey, 1786). 36.5 x 44.5 cm (tears with no loss of material, creases). 2/ the very rare late 18th-century aquatint: “To the unfortunate and innocent victims sacrificed in Lyon following the siege of their homeland. Monument erected at Les Brotteaux in 1795 and demolished in 1796”. Approx. 40 x 65 cm. (tears with no loss of material, creases).
