[ALPES MARITIMES / POPE PIUS VII] – A plenary indulgence granted by Pope Pius VII to Catholics who repent in the church at Valdeblore, a small village in the Mercantour. 4 pages of paper, 25.5 x 19.5 cm, red wax seal bearing the Pope’s coat of arms, 23 November 1809. Autograph signature of Pius VII. Pius VII, having been abducted during the night of 5–6 July 1809 by General Radet on the orders of Napoleon I, was imprisoned in Savona.
