[ROYAL COACHES AND POSTAL SERVICES] – Set of 5 parchment documents relating to royal postal and coach services (1551 to 1644): a receipt issued by Jean Dumont, a stable hand, for travelling by stagecoach and on post horses from the city of Orléans to Melun to deliver letters from His Majesty (12 December 1560); another receipt issued by François Dusault for a journey he made by stagecoach and on horseback from Orléans to deliver a bundle of letters to the court of the Parliament of Paris (11 September 1551); another receipt from Jacques Charron of the King’s stables for travelling from Amboise to Auxerre to deliver a bundle of letters to the Count of Guyenne (7 February 1572); another receipt from Antoine Barbier, a light cavalryman holding the post at Saint-Rambert in Bugey, for his wages as a postman (9 May 1579), etc. 5 oblong parchments, in generally good condition (minor traces of glue on the reverse).
