Description
[CHER / THE BIDON AND GODET FAMILIES] – A very substantial collection of archives relating to the Godet and Bidon families of Châteauneuf-sur-Cher: invoices, account books, estate management records, files relating to the sale of the Colombier estate, legal proceedings against Count Élion de Villeneuve-Tomet, and the archives of the Priory of Châteauneuf, including numerous documents dating from the 15th to the 18th centuries (list of revenues, statutes of the collegiate church, agreement between the prior and the parish priest regarding tithes), archives of Charles Pierre René Victor Sciption, Baron Corvisart, Major-General residing in Châteauneuf, etc. A total of 9 boxes.
Lucien Corvisart, physician to Napoleon III, upon marrying Berthe Césarine de Romain on 30 April 1856, received as a dowry the large estate of Cortieux (now Corqueux) near Châteauneuf-sur-Cher.
This estate, along with numerous plots of land situated in the same commune, had belonged to Henri Antoine François Godet, a barrister at the Parliament, and subsequently to his daughter and sole heir, Élisabeth, who had married Jean Bidon, a solicitor in Bourges.
