[EURE / CHÂTEAU DU BREUIL] – A very fine collection of personal archives belonging to Count Gustave de Reiset, a diplomat and owner of the Château du Breuil in Marcilly-sur-Eure, and his wife, the Countess de Sancy de Parabère: several hundred letters from the Count and his family, invoices, receipts and correspondence (1806–early 20th century). Of particular note is a rich collection of correspondence from the First Empire period belonging to Gustave’s father, Jules de Reiset, the future regent of the Banque de France. Also of note are interesting files on the renovation of their Parisian property on Rue de Miromesnil, on Château du Breuil and the mill at Marcilly-sur-Eure. Over 1,000 documents in total. Gustave Reiset (1821–1905), Count of Reiset, was a French diplomat posted to Rome, Denmark, Frankfurt, Turin and St Petersburg. He was a brilliant man of letters and a collector. Around 1840, Gustave Reiset purchased and restored the former Abbey of Breuil-Benoît in Marcilly-sur-Eure. In 1856, he married Marie Ernestine Blanche Le Fébure de Sancy de Parabère.
