[GUIZOT, FRANÇOIS / AUTOGRAPHS] – A set of 40 signed letters by François Guizot, addressed to private individuals regarding various matters (1814–1847); a portrait of Guizot is included.
François Guizot (Nîmes 1787–Saint-Ouen-le-Pin 1874) was a historian, statesman (a Member of Parliament and minister on several occasions) and a member of the Académie Française. Among his legacies is the famous Guizot Act of 28 June 1833, which required all municipalities with more than 500 inhabitants to maintain a co-educational school.
