BAUDELAIRE (Charles) by CARJAT photoglyptie. Album de la Galerie Contemporaine. Biographies et portraits, Paris, La Revue Illustrée, 1880. Publisher’s grey cloth binding with cold and hot stamping. Contains twelve photographic portraits of 19th-century figures (Houssaye, Banville, Chanzy, Fabre, Baudelaire, Monnier, Gondinet, Legouvé, Blanc, Feuillet, Denfert-Rochereau and Spuller), each accompanied by a text of approximately 4 pp. The portraits reproduced here using the photoglyptie process are based on wet collodion negatives published by Goupil. The portrait of Baudelaire by Carjat is in superb condition. A fine copy despite some foxing, some discolouration on the reverse of the folio accompanying Spuller’s portrait, a small crease on Banville’s portrait and a small scratch on Blanc’s Dimensions: 28 x 35 cm Dimensions of the portraits vary, approximately: 18 x 22 cm
