A large table-top clock with a console featuring Boulle marquetry of tortoiseshell and brass, depicting scrollwork and foliage. A domed top piece surmounted by a bronze figure representing Chronos and his scythe; the circular enamelled dial, displaying the hours in Roman and Arabic numerals, is surrounded by gilded bronze caryatids. Chiselled and gilded bronze fittings; at the base of the case are the three Fates, the spinners of time and life. The corners are adorned with scrolls of acanthus leaves; the movement is signed ‘DELISLE’ in Paris. Regency period. (Minor imperfections and losses).
