Description
Set consisting of a KSF (Knight's of the Sherwood Forest) ceremonial sword and a late 19th century forest rite saltire. Ceremonial sword decorated with symbols associated with a fraternal organisation called the Knights of the Sherwood Forest, engraved blade. The Order of the Knights of Sherwood Forest was founded in 1879 in St. Louis, with members holding a rank affiliated to the Foresters of America, and was described as both a "benevolent" and semi-military, even uniformed, group within the Foresters. This rank was recognised as the second level of the organisation by the High Subsidiary Court of Philadelphia in 1883. At that time, the Knights had around 1,700 members in 50 subordinate conclaves, under the authority of a worldwide Supreme Conclave. The Order disappeared in the early 1920s.
