FRANÇOIS DELTEIL (1878–1962) (Beaux-Arts 1932), ‘Hills’, Oil on panel, SBD, 34x46cm. Unframed A painter from Bordeaux trained by F. M. Roganeau; he studied at the city’s School of Fine Arts around 1930. His oil paintings depicting remarkable trees and landscapes of the region were much admired. As late as 1955, his family still ran a shop selling ‘brushes and artists’ supplies’ at 8–10 Rue du Petit Goave in Bordeaux. His studio collection was sold at auction in Bordeaux at the Hôtel Delurbe in the 1980s.
