Vera CUNINGHAM (1897–1955), ‘The Ogress’, mixed media on paper mounted on canvas, 55 x 45 cm. Vera CUNINGHAM (1897–1955) was a British artist who belonged to the LONDON GROUP. She modelled for the artists Bernard Meninsky and Matthew Smith. She lived and exhibited in London and Paris, where she took refuge with Matthew Smith at the start of their relationship. Some of her works are held in public collections in England. She also designed theatre sets.
